Convert Barclays bank statements to CSV or Excel
Turn Barclays statement exports — PDF or CSV — into clean CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Unlike a plain converter, every transaction comes back matched to a real merchant name with category and confidence, and subscriptions, recurring charges and bank fees are detected automatically.

Getting your statement out of Barclays
Barclays gives you PDF online statements in both Online Banking and the Barclays app, and is one of the few UK banks whose online banking also exports transactions in multiple accounting formats. Statements are stored in a dedicated documents area rather than on the transaction screen.
Download a PDF statement in Barclays Online Banking
- Log in to Barclays Online Banking.
- Select 'Manage accounts', then 'Statements and documents'.
- Pick the account and the statement period you need.
- The statement opens as a PDF — use the PDF icon in the toolbar (or File menu) to save or print it.
You can also reach the same files via 'My documents and messages' under your name on the homepage, then 'My Barclays documents'.
Download a PDF statement in the Barclays app
- Open the Barclays app and go to 'Help' from the home page.
- Select 'Statements'.
- Choose the account and month, then save or share the PDF from your device.
Export transactions for spreadsheets or accounting software
- In Online Banking, open the account and select 'Show recent transactions'.
- Scroll down and select 'View All Transactions'.
- Set a start and end date and search.
- Scroll to the bottom, choose the export option and pick your file format.
The export lives on the transactions screen, not in 'Statements and documents' — the two areas produce different files.
Menu wording shifts between app versions; the destinations above stay stable — confirm against Barclays's official help. Statements up to 5 MB / 5,000 rows are supported; card numbers are redacted before storage, the original file is deleted within 24 hours, and reports stay in your dashboard only as long as your plan keeps them.
What Barclays gives you natively
Official monthly statements are PDF only. Separately, the transaction export in Online Banking produces machine-readable files: accounting guides consistently report CSV, OFX and QIF options (Excel-compatible), which is broader than most UK banks offer. There is no CSV version of the formal statement itself — CSV comes from the transaction list, so its columns and date coverage differ from the PDF statement.
How far back you can go
Barclays states online statements are available for 7 years while the account is open. If you have closed the account but still bank with Barclays, statements for the closed account remain available for up to 5 years. The transaction export covers a much shorter window than the PDF archive — third-party accounting guides report it is limited to recent months — so for older periods you need the PDF statements. For paper copies or anything beyond the online archive, Barclays has an 'Order Paper Statements' service in its help centre.
Barclays statement quirks worth knowing
- Barclays statement lines lean on written-out descriptions ('Direct Debit to...', 'Card Payment to...') rather than the short type-code column (DEB/DD/SO) used by Lloyds-group banks, so parsers keyed to type codes need different handling.
- PDF statements and the CSV-style transaction export come from different screens and different data sets — the export's date window is far shorter than the 7-year PDF archive (per accounting guides such as DocuClipper and ExpensePlus).
- Recent card and contactless payments can sit as pending before they post with their final descriptor, so the current month's export may not match the eventual statement line for line.
- Closed-account access drops from 7 years to up to 5 years, which catches people gathering historic records after switching away.
Don't just convert it — understand it
The same upload also produces a full analysis of your Barclaysstatement: every merchant identified with confidence levels, subscriptions with renewal estimates and yearly cost, duplicate and price-rise flags, bank & FX fees, and a printable report. That's the part a plain converter can't do.

Frequently asked questions
How do I download a Barclays statement as a PDF?
Log in to Online Banking, select 'Manage accounts' then 'Statements and documents', pick the account and period, and save the PDF. In the app, go to 'Help' on the home page and select 'Statements'.
Can I export Barclays transactions to Excel or CSV?
Yes — from the transactions screen in Online Banking (not the statements area). View all transactions, set a date range, and use the export option; CSV, OFX and QIF formats are reported by accounting guides. Coverage is limited to recent activity, so use PDF statements for older periods.
How far back do Barclays online statements go?
7 years for open accounts, per Barclays' help pages. For an account you have closed while still banking with Barclays, statements stay available for up to 5 years.
How do I get a paper copy of an old Barclays statement?
Use the 'Order Paper Statements' option in the Barclays help centre, or ask in-branch or by phone if the period you need is outside the online archive.
How do I convert a Barclays statement to CSV or Excel?
Download a statement from your Barclays app or online banking (PDF or CSV both work), upload it above, and download the result as CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Every transaction is parsed, and merchants are identified automatically.
Does it work with Barclays PDF statements?
Yes. Structured exports are parsed exactly; PDF layouts go through AI structure analysis, and scanned PDFs are read page-by-page with AI vision — every date and amount is re-validated by code afterwards.
Is my statement safe?
Card and account numbers are redacted before anything is stored, the original file is deleted within 24 hours on every plan, analysed reports stay in your dashboard only for your plan's retention period (24 hours on Free), and we never ask for your bank login.
Is it free?
Converting a statement is free with an account (1 page per 24 hours). Paid plans add more pages, bulk uploads and AI web research on stubborn merchants.
