Getting your statement out of Capital One

Capital One is paperless-first: enroll in paperless statements and you get up to 7 years of PDF statements for active accounts, on both the website and the mobile app. Transaction exports run separately from the activity page on desktop, covering only a short recent window.

Download PDF statements on capitalone.com

  1. Sign in to capitalone.com.
  2. Click the account you want.
  3. Click view statements.
  4. Pick the statement period and download the PDF.

You need to be enrolled in paperless statements to access statements digitally. Capital One says statements are typically generated online by the 6th of each month.

Export transactions from the activity page

  1. Sign in on a desktop browser — third-party guides consistently note the export isn't offered in the mobile app.
  2. Open the account's activity page.
  3. Set a date range and use the download option.
  4. Choose CSV for spreadsheets, or a Quicken/Money-compatible file (QFX/OFX) where offered for your account type.

Per third-party documentation, the native export only covers a short rolling window of recent activity; older months come from PDF statements.

In the Capital One Mobile app

  1. Sign in to the Capital One Mobile app.
  2. Tap the account you want statements for.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap statements.
  4. Open the statement you need as a PDF and share or save it.

Menu wording shifts between app versions; the destinations above stay stable — confirm against Capital One's official help. Statements up to 5 MB / 5,000 rows are supported; card numbers are redacted before storage, the original file is deleted within 24 hours, and reports stay in your dashboard only as long as your plan keeps them.

What Capital One gives you natively

Statements are PDF. The desktop activity export is documented by third-party guides as offering CSV, with QFX (Quicken) and OFX available for some account types; there is no native .xlsx and no export inside the mobile app. Capital One 360 savings accounts generate quarterly rather than monthly statements when there's no activity, and Capital One notes that direct (360) accounts are automatically combined into one statement.

How far back you can go

Capital One's help center states you can view up to 7 years of statements online for active accounts, provided you're enrolled in paperless statements. The transaction export, by contrast, covers only a short recent window per third-party documentation, so historical work almost always goes through the PDF archive. For statements beyond what's shown online, or for closed accounts, contact Capital One support to request copies.

Capital One statement quirks worth knowing

  • Several Capital One 360 accounts are combined into a single statement automatically, so one PDF can interleave multiple accounts' activity.
  • Savings statements go quarterly when there's no monthly activity, leaving gaps in a month-by-month statement list that look like missing statements but aren't.
  • Credit card statements show a transaction date and a posting date per charge, and the app's cleaned-up merchant names often differ from the raw descriptor printed on the statement, per user reports.
  • The exportable activity window is much shorter than the 7-year statement archive, so CSV coverage and statement coverage rarely line up.

Don't just convert it — understand it

The same upload also produces a full analysis of your Capital Onestatement: every merchant identified with confidence levels, subscriptions with renewal estimates and yearly cost, duplicate and price-rise flags, bank & FX fees, and a printable report. That's the part a plain converter can't do.

Frequently asked questions

How far back can I get Capital One statements?

Up to 7 years online for active accounts, per Capital One's help center — as long as you're enrolled in paperless statements. For older periods or closed accounts, you'll need to contact Capital One support.

Can I export Capital One transactions to CSV or Excel?

Yes, from the activity page on the desktop site: set a date range and download a CSV, which opens in Excel. The export only reaches a short recent window, though, so older months have to come from the PDF statements.

Why can't I find the export option in the Capital One app?

The transaction download is a desktop-site feature. The app does give you full access to PDF statements — tap the account, scroll to the bottom, and tap statements.

When are Capital One statements available each month?

Capital One says bank statements are typically generated online by the 6th of each month. Savings accounts with no activity generate statements quarterly instead of monthly.

How do I convert a Capital One statement to CSV or Excel?

Download a statement from your Capital One app or online banking (PDF or CSV both work), upload it above, and download the result as CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Every transaction is parsed, and merchants are identified automatically.

Does it work with Capital One PDF statements?

Yes. Structured exports are parsed exactly; PDF layouts go through AI structure analysis, and scanned PDFs are read page-by-page with AI vision — every date and amount is re-validated by code afterwards.

Is my statement safe?

Card and account numbers are redacted before anything is stored, the original file is deleted within 24 hours on every plan, analysed reports stay in your dashboard only for your plan's retention period (24 hours on Free), and we never ask for your bank login.

Is it free?

Converting a statement is free with an account (1 page per 24 hours). Paid plans add more pages, bulk uploads and AI web research on stubborn merchants.
