Convert Monzo bank statements to CSV or Excel

Turn Monzo statement exports — PDF or CSV — into clean CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Unlike a plain converter, every transaction comes back matched to a real merchant name with category and confidence, and subscriptions, recurring charges and bank fees are detected automatically.

Getting your statement out of Monzo

Monzo statements are generated in the app for any date range you choose, in PDF, CSV, or QIF, and they include your Pots. Business accounts add a web export and automatic monthly exports to Google Drive or OneDrive.

Personal account (app)

  1. Open the Monzo app and go to Home in the menu bar.
  2. Tap the three dots underneath your card.
  3. Select Bank statements.
  4. Choose the date range you want.
  5. Pick the format — PDF, CSV, or QIF — and download or share the file.

Business account (web)

  1. Log in to Monzo Business on the web.
  2. Click the Export statement button on the home screen.
  3. Choose your dates and format (PDF, CSV, or QIF).

Automatic monthly exports (business)

  1. In the business account settings, connect Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive.
  2. Monzo creates a 'Monzo Business' folder and drops last month's statement there on the 1st of each month.
  3. Choose PDF, CSV, or QIF as the auto-export format.

Menu wording shifts between app versions; the destinations above stay stable — confirm against Monzo's official help. Statements up to 5 MB / 5,000 rows are supported; card numbers are redacted before storage, the original file is deleted within 24 hours, and reports stay in your dashboard only as long as your plan keeps them.

What Monzo gives you natively

Monzo offers PDF, CSV, and QIF from the same in-app flow — QIF is a rarity among UK banks and useful for older accounting packages like Quicken or Microsoft Money. All Monzo statements are original documents that shouldn't need stamping or signing for mortgage or visa applications, though Monzo can provide stamped and signed copies on request via a form.

How far back you can go

You choose your own date range in the app, and Monzo doesn't publish a cutoff for in-app statement history. When an account is closed, Monzo emails a password-protected statement containing the full transaction history and texts you the password — there's also a dedicated process for requesting full history on closed accounts.

Monzo statement quirks worth knowing

  • Statements include Pots, so transfers between your main balance and Pots appear as transaction lines — anyone analysing spending needs to filter these internal movements out.
  • Pot transfers in CSV exports are identified by Monzo's internal pot IDs (strings starting 'pot_') rather than a human-friendly name, a well-known snag when importing into accounting tools (widely reported by Monzo users; not documented on the official help page).
  • Monzo's CSV is enriched with app metadata like spending categories and notes, so it carries more columns than a traditional bank CSV and may need trimming before import.
  • Closed-account statements arrive password-protected by PDF encryption, with the password sent by SMS — converters and parsers need the password removed first.

Don't just convert it — understand it

The same upload also produces a full analysis of your Monzostatement: every merchant identified with confidence levels, subscriptions with renewal estimates and yearly cost, duplicate and price-rise flags, bank & FX fees, and a printable report. That's the part a plain converter can't do.

Frequently asked questions

How do I export my Monzo transactions to CSV?

In the app: Home, tap the three dots under your card, then Bank statements. Pick your date range and choose CSV. Business users can also export from the web home screen.

Does Monzo do QIF exports?

Yes — QIF is offered alongside PDF and CSV in the same statement flow, which is unusual for a UK bank and handy for legacy accounting software.

Can I get statements after closing my Monzo account?

Monzo emails you a password-protected statement with your full transaction history when the account closes, and texts you the password. For anything else, follow Monzo's closed-account history process.

Are Monzo statements accepted for mortgages and visas?

Monzo says its statements are original documents that shouldn't need stamping or signing, but it will provide stamped and signed copies if you request them through its form.

How do I convert a Monzo statement to CSV or Excel?

Download a statement from your Monzo app or online banking (PDF or CSV both work), upload it above, and download the result as CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Every transaction is parsed, and merchants are identified automatically.

Does it work with Monzo PDF statements?

Yes. Structured exports are parsed exactly; PDF layouts go through AI structure analysis, and scanned PDFs are read page-by-page with AI vision — every date and amount is re-validated by code afterwards.

Is my statement safe?

Card and account numbers are redacted before anything is stored, the original file is deleted within 24 hours on every plan, analysed reports stay in your dashboard only for your plan's retention period (24 hours on Free), and we never ask for your bank login.

Is it free?

Converting a statement is free with an account (1 page per 24 hours). Paid plans add more pages, bulk uploads and AI web research on stubborn merchants.
