Getting your statement out of bunq
bunq exports statements per bank account (sub-account) in PDF, CSV, or MT940, from the app or web.bunq.com. Because every bunq sub-account has its own IBAN, each one produces its own statement.
Export via Accounting (app)
- Tap your Profile in the top-left corner of the bunq app.
- Select Accounting, then Export Statement.
- Choose the bank account and the time period.
- Pick the format — PDF, CSV, or MT940 — and tap Export Statement.
Export from a specific account's settings
- Go to Home and select the bank account.
- Open Settings (gear icon) and choose Export statement.
- Enter the time period and format, then tap Export Statement.
Export on the web
- Log in at web.bunq.com.
- Open the bank account, go to Settings, then Export statement.
- Select the date range and format, then export.
Closed sub-accounts
- Go to Home, then Profile, then Archive.
- Open Bank Accounts to reach closed accounts and export their statements from there.
Menu wording shifts between app versions; the destinations above stay stable — confirm against bunq's official help. Statements up to 5 MB / 5,000 rows are supported; card numbers are redacted before storage, the original file is deleted within 24 hours, and reports stay in your dashboard only as long as your plan keeps them.
What bunq gives you natively
bunq exports PDF, CSV, and MT940 — the MT940 option makes it directly compatible with Dutch accounting packages. PDF exports can optionally include images you've attached to payment events. Beyond regular statements, bunq can also generate annual statements, single-transaction statements, card statements, and a French RIB document.
How far back you can go
You choose a custom time period per export and bunq doesn't publish a history cutoff. Statements for closed sub-accounts remain reachable through the Archive as long as your bunq profile exists. Note that bunq won't export statements at all while your account is unverified.
bunq statement quirks worth knowing
- Every sub-account (savings goals, shared budgets, and so on) has its own IBAN and its own statement, so a complete financial picture requires one export per sub-account rather than one combined file.
- Internal moves between your own bunq sub-accounts are real IBAN-to-IBAN payments, appearing as outgoing on one statement and incoming on another — easily mistaken for external transfers.
- PDF exports can embed receipt images attached to payments, making some bunq PDFs much heavier and more complex to parse than a typical bank statement.
- bunq users on community forums note there's no single combined MT940 covering all sub-accounts at once — accounting imports are done account by account.
Don't just convert it — understand it
The same upload also produces a full analysis of your bunqstatement: every merchant identified with confidence levels, subscriptions with renewal estimates and yearly cost, duplicate and price-rise flags, bank & FX fees, and a printable report. That's the part a plain converter can't do.

Frequently asked questions
How do I export a bunq statement as MT940?
Profile, then Accounting, then Export Statement. Choose the account and period, pick MT940, and export. MT940 imports directly into most Dutch bookkeeping software.
Can I get one statement for all my bunq sub-accounts?
No — each sub-account has its own IBAN and exports its own statement. Export each account separately and combine them afterwards if you need one file.
Can I still get statements from a closed bunq sub-account?
Yes. Go to Home, Profile, then Archive, open Bank Accounts, and export the closed account's statement from there.
Why won't bunq let me export a statement?
The most common reason is an unverified account — bunq only exports statements once identity verification is complete.
How do I convert a bunq statement to CSV or Excel?
Download a statement from your bunq app or online banking (PDF or CSV both work), upload it above, and download the result as CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Every transaction is parsed, and merchants are identified automatically.
Does it work with bunq PDF statements?
Yes. Structured exports are parsed exactly; PDF layouts go through AI structure analysis, and scanned PDFs are read page-by-page with AI vision — every date and amount is re-validated by code afterwards.
Is my statement safe?
Card and account numbers are redacted before anything is stored, the original file is deleted within 24 hours on every plan, analysed reports stay in your dashboard only for your plan's retention period (24 hours on Free), and we never ask for your bank login.
Is it free?
Converting a statement is free with an account (1 page per 24 hours). Paid plans add more pages, bulk uploads and AI web research on stubborn merchants.
