Getting your statement out of Charles Schwab

Charles Schwab keeps up to 10 years of statements, trade confirmations, and tax documents available online — one of the deepest self-serve archives of any major US institution. Statements live under Accounts > Statements & Tax Forms on Schwab.com and under the documents area of the Schwab Mobile app.

Download a statement (web)

  1. Log in at schwab.com.
  2. Go to Accounts > Statements & Tax Forms.
  3. Filter by account, document type, and date.
  4. Download the statement PDF for the period you need.

Download a statement (mobile app)

  1. Open the Schwab Mobile app and log in.
  2. Go to the More/Documents area.
  3. Choose the account and statement period.
  4. View or save the PDF.

Export transaction history to CSV (web)

  1. Log in at schwab.com and go to Accounts > History.
  2. Select the account and set a custom date range, then run the search.
  3. Click Export in the top-right of the results.
  4. Choose CSV and confirm to download the file.

Works for brokerage accounts and Schwab Bank checking; each account type produces its own column layout.

Menu wording shifts between app versions; the destinations above stay stable — confirm against Charles Schwab's official help. Statements up to 5 MB / 5,000 rows are supported; card numbers are redacted before storage, the original file is deleted within 24 hours, and reports stay in your dashboard only as long as your plan keeps them.

What Charles Schwab gives you natively

Statements, confirmations, and tax forms are PDFs. Transaction history exports from the Accounts > History page as CSV — Schwab's own StreetSmart help documents the comma-delimited export, and trading-tool import guides describe the same Export-to-CSV flow on Schwab.com. Third-party guides also note a per-export cap (commonly cited as 10,000 records), so break very active accounts into smaller date ranges. Quicken-style direct connections exist for automatic downloads, but the self-serve file format on the site is CSV.

How far back you can go

Schwab states that up to 10 years of historical tax documents, brokerage statements, and trade confirmations are available online (Accounts > Statements & Tax Forms on the web; the documents area in Schwab Mobile), and its paperless-consent disclosure commits to electronic documents being available for up to 10 years from initial delivery. Transaction history is shallower: up to four years is available through Accounts > History. For anything past those windows, you must request records from Schwab rather than self-serve.

Charles Schwab statement quirks worth knowing

  • Schwab brokerage statements are portfolio documents — holdings, positions, market values, and activity mixed in one PDF — so transaction extraction is a different problem than with a plain bank statement.
  • Schwab's own help pages warn that History exports "are not official records" and are not what is reported to the IRS — the statement, trade confirmations, and 1099s are the documents of record.
  • Schwab Bank checking (Investor Checking) is linked to a brokerage account, and its documents can sit alongside brokerage documents, so make sure you pick the right account in the Statements & Tax Forms filters.
  • Brokerage CSV exports include trade-specific columns (symbol, quantity, price, fees) that bank-statement tooling doesn't expect, and the layout differs between brokerage and bank accounts.

Don't just convert it — understand it

The same upload also produces a full analysis of your Charles Schwabstatement: every merchant identified with confidence levels, subscriptions with renewal estimates and yearly cost, duplicate and price-rise flags, bank & FX fees, and a printable report. That's the part a plain converter can't do.

Frequently asked questions

How many years of statements does Schwab keep online?

Up to 10 years of statements, trade confirmations, and tax documents are available on Schwab.com under Accounts > Statements & Tax Forms, and in the Schwab Mobile app's documents area.

How do I export Schwab transactions to CSV?

On Schwab.com, go to Accounts > History, pick the account and date range, click Export in the top-right, and choose CSV. Very active accounts may need multiple smaller date ranges.

How far back can I see Schwab transaction history?

Up to four years through Accounts > History on Schwab.com. Older activity has to come from your archived statements, which go back up to 10 years online.

Are Schwab history exports official records?

No — Schwab explicitly says history data is not an official record and isn't reported to the IRS. Use statements, trade confirmations, and 1099 forms for anything official.

How do I convert a Charles Schwab statement to CSV or Excel?

Download a statement from your Charles Schwab app or online banking (PDF or CSV both work), upload it above, and download the result as CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Every transaction is parsed, and merchants are identified automatically.

Does it work with Charles Schwab PDF statements?

Yes. Structured exports are parsed exactly; PDF layouts go through AI structure analysis, and scanned PDFs are read page-by-page with AI vision — every date and amount is re-validated by code afterwards.

Is my statement safe?

Card and account numbers are redacted before anything is stored, the original file is deleted within 24 hours on every plan, analysed reports stay in your dashboard only for your plan's retention period (24 hours on Free), and we never ask for your bank login.

Is it free?

Converting a statement is free with an account (1 page per 24 hours). Paid plans add more pages, bulk uploads and AI web research on stubborn merchants.
