Getting your statement out of CIBC

CIBC gives you up to 7 years of bank account and credit card eStatements in CIBC Online Banking and the CIBC Mobile Banking app, viewable and downloadable as PDFs. A separate Download Transactions option exports recent activity for spreadsheets and personal finance software.

Download eStatements from CIBC Online Banking

  1. Sign in to CIBC Online Banking and go to the Accounts page.
  2. Select View eStatements (also reachable through the My Documents area).
  3. Choose the account and the statement period you need.
  4. Select Download and save the PDF.

View statements in the CIBC Mobile Banking app

  1. Sign in to the CIBC Mobile Banking app.
  2. Open the account and look for its statements/documents option.
  3. Pick the statement month and open the PDF, then use your phone's share or save option.

CIBC states the same 7 years of eStatements are available on mobile as online.

Download recent transactions for finance software

  1. Sign in to CIBC Online Banking and open the account's activity.
  2. Choose the Download Transactions option.
  3. Set the date range you need.
  4. Pick the file format for your software and download.

Menu wording shifts between app versions; the destinations above stay stable — confirm against CIBC's official help. Statements up to 5 MB / 5,000 rows are supported; card numbers are redacted before storage, the original file is deleted within 24 hours, and reports stay in your dashboard only as long as your plan keeps them.

What CIBC gives you natively

eStatements are PDFs, and CIBC notes you can save and print them or download data for use with personal finance software. The Download Transactions feature is commonly documented as producing CSV for spreadsheets and QFX (Quicken Web Connect) for finance software; Quicken's own listings show CIBC Canada supporting Web Connect (.qfx) manual downloads. The transaction export covers recent activity only and lacks the opening/closing balance summary a full statement carries.

How far back you can go

CIBC officially states you can view up to 7 years of your credit card and bank account eStatements online and on your mobile device. Investment account statements are only available from the time you register for eStatements onward. For statements older than 7 years or from before your eStatement enrolment, you need to request copies through CIBC, and document retrieval fees under your account agreement can apply.

CIBC statement quirks worth knowing

  • Interac e-Transfer statement lines identify the transaction by the other person's registered name and the transfer direction — account details never appear, by design of the Interac system.
  • Card purchases display the merchant's legal or processing name plus a city suffix, so franchise locations and online sellers often appear under unfamiliar names.
  • Pre-authorized debits and bill payments are labelled with the biller's processing name, which can differ from the brand on your bill.
  • The CSV/QFX transaction download uses shorter descriptions than the PDF statement for the same items, so reconcile against the PDF when the wording matters.

Don't just convert it — understand it

The same upload also produces a full analysis of your CIBCstatement: every merchant identified with confidence levels, subscriptions with renewal estimates and yearly cost, duplicate and price-rise flags, bank & FX fees, and a printable report. That's the part a plain converter can't do.

Frequently asked questions

How do I download a CIBC eStatement as a PDF?

Sign in to CIBC Online Banking, go to the Accounts page and select View eStatements, choose the account and date range, then select Download and pick the PDF. The same statements are available in the mobile app.

How far back can I get CIBC statements?

CIBC keeps up to 7 years of bank account and credit card eStatements available online and on mobile. Older records have to be requested from CIBC and may involve retrieval fees.

Can I export CIBC transactions to Excel or CSV?

Yes — use the Download Transactions option in the account activity view, which supports spreadsheet-friendly and Quicken-style formats for recent activity. For full-month data with balances, download the PDF eStatement instead.

Do CIBC eStatements work for tax and proof-of-payment purposes?

CIBC's eStatements are the official statement record and can be saved and printed. CIBC also groups statements and tax slips in its My Documents area to make tax-time retrieval easier.

How do I convert a CIBC statement to CSV or Excel?

Download a statement from your CIBC app or online banking (PDF or CSV both work), upload it above, and download the result as CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Every transaction is parsed, and merchants are identified automatically.

Does it work with CIBC PDF statements?

Yes. Structured exports are parsed exactly; PDF layouts go through AI structure analysis, and scanned PDFs are read page-by-page with AI vision — every date and amount is re-validated by code afterwards.

Is my statement safe?

Card and account numbers are redacted before anything is stored, the original file is deleted within 24 hours on every plan, analysed reports stay in your dashboard only for your plan's retention period (24 hours on Free), and we never ask for your bank login.

Is it free?

Converting a statement is free with an account (1 page per 24 hours). Paid plans add more pages, bulk uploads and AI web research on stubborn merchants.
