Getting your statement out of ING
ING's statement and export options are country-specific; in the Netherlands (Mijn ING), you download PDF afschriften from 'Afschriften en overzichten' and export transactions (af- en bijschrijvingen) as CSV, MT940, or CAMT.053. Other ING countries offer similar but not identical menus.
Download PDF statements (Mijn ING, Netherlands)
- Log in to Mijn ING in your browser.
- Go to 'Afschriften en overzichten' (Statements and overviews).
- Select the account and the statement period.
- Download the afschrift as PDF.
Export transactions as CSV/MT940/CAMT.053 (Mijn ING)
- Log in to Mijn ING and open Service, then 'Af- en bijschrijvingen downloaden'.
- Select the account(s) you want to export.
- Set the period you need.
- Choose the format — comma-separated CSV, MT940, or CAMT.053 — and download.
Accounting tools generally recommend CAMT.053 or MT940 over CSV for imports, as the structured formats carry full SEPA data.
In the ING app
- Open the ING Bankieren app and select the account.
- Browse transactions directly, or use the app's statement section for PDF afschriften.
- For CSV/MT940/CAMT.053 exports, use Mijn ING in a browser — the structured exports are a web feature.
Menu wording shifts between app versions; the destinations above stay stable — confirm against ING's official help. Statements up to 5 MB / 5,000 rows are supported; card numbers are redacted before storage, the original file is deleted within 24 hours, and reports stay in your dashboard only as long as your plan keeps them.
What ING gives you natively
ING Netherlands offers PDF afschriften for official statements, plus transaction exports in comma-separated CSV, MT940, and CAMT.053. The CSV is semicolon-delimited in practice with columns for date, name/description, account, counter account, code, debit/credit marker, amount, transaction type, and notes. Formats differ by country — ING in Germany, Belgium, and Poland each have their own export menus and format lists.
How far back you can go
ING NL provides roughly 24 months of digital transaction access via Mijn ING and the app, and accounting integrations commonly state that transaction downloads reach about 18 months back (third-party figures; ING doesn't publish one number prominently). Under Dutch law ING retains records for the statutory seven years, and the Kifid complaints institute has confirmed ING isn't required to keep statements available longer than that — so download and archive statements yourself for anything long-term.
ING statement quirks worth knowing
- The CSV uses a separate 'Af/Bij' (debit/credit) column instead of signed amounts, so every importer must combine the amount and direction columns before the numbers make sense.
- Descriptions concatenate the SEPA payment reference (omschrijving/Verwendungszweck-equivalent) with counterparty details into long text fields, and the counter-account IBAN sits in its own column.
- Each line carries a short Dutch transaction code (such as GT for online banking transfers, BA for card payments, ID for iDEAL), which is the quickest way to classify transaction types.
- Because ING operates country-by-country, guides for ing.nl don't apply to ING Germany or Belgium — menu names, formats, and history limits all differ per country.
Don't just convert it — understand it
The same upload also produces a full analysis of your INGstatement: every merchant identified with confidence levels, subscriptions with renewal estimates and yearly cost, duplicate and price-rise flags, bank & FX fees, and a printable report. That's the part a plain converter can't do.

Frequently asked questions
How do I download ING transactions as CSV?
In Mijn ING (Netherlands), go to Service, then 'Af- en bijschrijvingen downloaden', pick the account and period, and choose comma-separated CSV. MT940 and CAMT.053 are offered in the same screen.
How far back can I download ING transactions?
Digital transaction access in Mijn ING runs to around 24 months, and accounting tools commonly cite roughly 18 months for file downloads. For older records, use archived PDF afschriften — ING keeps records for the statutory seven years.
Should I use CSV, MT940, or CAMT.053 from ING?
For accounting software, CAMT.053 (or MT940) — they carry structured SEPA data that survives import. Use CSV only when your tool can't read the structured formats.
Why doesn't the ING app let me export CSV?
The structured exports live in Mijn ING on the web. The app is for viewing transactions and PDF statements; use a browser for CSV, MT940, or CAMT.053 files.
How do I convert a ING statement to CSV or Excel?
Download a statement from your ING app or online banking (PDF or CSV both work), upload it above, and download the result as CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX or JSON. Every transaction is parsed, and merchants are identified automatically.
Does it work with ING PDF statements?
Yes. Structured exports are parsed exactly; PDF layouts go through AI structure analysis, and scanned PDFs are read page-by-page with AI vision — every date and amount is re-validated by code afterwards.
Is my statement safe?
Card and account numbers are redacted before anything is stored, the original file is deleted within 24 hours on every plan, analysed reports stay in your dashboard only for your plan's retention period (24 hours on Free), and we never ask for your bank login.
Is it free?
Converting a statement is free with an account (1 page per 24 hours). Paid plans add more pages, bulk uploads and AI web research on stubborn merchants.
