Getting your statement out of Westpac
Westpac stores up to 7 years of eStatements in Online Banking, and its Exports and reports area produces transaction files in four formats — CSV, QBO, QIF and OFX — from a desktop browser. Closed-account eStatements remain viewable for eligible accounts.
Download a PDF eStatement in Westpac Online Banking
- Sign in to Westpac Online Banking.
- Open the statements/documents area from the navigation.
- Select the account and the statement period.
- Download the PDF.
eStatements for eligible closed savings, home loan and transaction accounts stay viewable for up to 7 years from the current date.
Export transaction files (CSV, QBO, QIF, OFX)
- Sign in to Westpac Online Banking on a desktop and go to Overview.
- Select Exports and reports.
- In the Transactions section, select Export CSV, QBO, QIF, OFX file.
- Choose a date range, select accounts, then choose a file format and date format.
- Select Export and save the file.
QBO and OFX are only available when you select a single account; the export feature is desktop-only, not in the Westpac app.
Menu wording shifts between app versions; the destinations above stay stable — confirm against Westpac's official help. Statements up to 5 MB / 5,000 rows are supported; card numbers are redacted before storage, the original file is deleted within 24 hours, and reports stay in your dashboard only as long as your plan keeps them.
What Westpac gives you natively
Westpac officially supports four export file types from Online Banking on desktop: CSV, QBO, QIF and OFX. CSV suits Excel and Google Sheets; OFX is the better pick for importing into accounting software like Xero or MYOB; QBO targets QuickBooks; QIF is a legacy format for older packages. QBO and OFX exports are restricted to one account at a time, while CSV and QIF can cover multiple accounts. Statements themselves are PDF only, and the mobile app is for viewing rather than file export.
How far back you can go
Westpac states you can view up to 7 years of statement history through eStatements, and that once statements are more than 7 years old they are no longer available through Online Banking. The same 7-year window applies to closed-account eStatements for eligible savings, home loan and transaction accounts, and business and merchant eStatements. For anything older than 7 years you must request copies from Westpac directly, which is a manual retrieval and can attract the document fees in Westpac's fee schedule.
Westpac statement quirks worth knowing
- Osko/PayID payments appear with the word Osko in transaction descriptions and settle in near real time, carrying payer-supplied description text on the statement line.
- BPAY bill payments show the biller name and reference details rather than the recipient's bank details.
- Westpac's enhanced CSV formats for business accounts include structured columns beyond the basic date/description/amount layout, so the CSV shape differs between personal and Corporate Online exports.
- Card purchases include a merchant location suffix, and the description on a pending transaction can change once it posts — exports only include posted transactions.
Don't just convert it — understand it
The same upload also produces a full analysis of your Westpacstatement: every merchant identified with confidence levels, subscriptions with renewal estimates and yearly cost, duplicate and price-rise flags, bank & FX fees, and a printable report. That's the part a plain converter can't do.

Why can't I choose OFX or QBO for multiple accounts in Westpac?

How do I convert a Westpac statement to CSV or Excel?

Yes. Structured exports are parsed exactly; PDF layouts go through AI structure analysis, and scanned PDFs are read page-by-page with AI vision — every date and amount is re-validated by code afterwards.
Is my statement safe?
Card and account numbers are redacted before anything is stored, the original file is deleted within 24 hours on every plan, analysed reports stay in your dashboard only for your plan's retention period (24 hours on Free), and we never ask for your bank login.
Is it free?
Converting a statement is free with an account (1 page per 24 hours). Paid plans add more pages, bulk uploads and AI web research on stubborn merchants.
