Dog subscription box
How to cancel your BarkBox subscription
BarkBox (from BARK) sells monthly, 6-month, and 12-month dog toy-and-treat subscriptions, and the multi-month plans automatically renew for another term of the same length unless you act. The key distinction: "cancelling" a BarkBox subscription means disabling auto-renewal — if you're mid-way through a 6- or 12-month commitment, you still receive and pay for every box remaining in that commitment, and the subscription ends when the term does. BARK's auto-renewal practices have drawn class-action scrutiny, so this is a cancellation where timing and confirmation matter.
On your statement it usually appears as BARK&CO (BARKBOX), BARKBOX, DEBIT CARD PURCHASE - BARK&CO (BARKBOX), BARK&CO NY. Not sure the charge is really BarkBox? Identify it first.
Disable auto-renewal from your account
- Sign in to your BarkBox account in a browser.
- Scroll to the "Subscription Settings" section of your account page (or select "Manage Subscription" from the dashboard).
- Choose the option to disable auto-renewal at the end of your current plan.
- Confirm and screenshot the setting showing auto-renew is off.
On a month-to-month plan this ends the subscription after the current month. On a 6- or 12-month plan it stops the next term from starting; the current commitment still runs to completion.
Cancel through the Happy Team
- Open the BARK help/FAQ page and click "Chat Now" to reach the Happy Team, or email happy@barkbox.com from your account email.
- State that you want auto-renewal disabled and the subscription fully closed at the end of the current period.
- Ask for written confirmation of the cancellation and the final box date.
Use this route if the auto-renew toggle isn't visible in your account or you want a dated record.
Refunds, timing and what you'll still be charged
Cancelling BarkBox does not refund the current plan: a 6- or 12-month commitment is a purchase of all those boxes, and BARK's own FAQ confirms that cancelling mid-commitment means you still get (and have paid for, or will be billed for) every box in the term. What cancellation prevents is the automatic renewal into a brand-new term of the same length. Renewal billing lands around the start of the renewal month, so act well before your term ends — per BARK's terms, cancellation must be completed by the first day of the month following the end of your current subscription period. Renewal charges that slipped through are a customer-service conversation via chat or happy@barkbox.com rather than a stated refund right.
Watch out for these
- "Cancel" only means "don't renew." A 6- or 12-month plan keeps shipping and billing until the commitment is done — there is no early exit from the term.
- Multi-month plans renew into another full term of the same length, not into month-to-month, so one missed deadline can commit you to 6 or 12 more boxes.
- The deadline is tied to the renewal month, and boxes bill early in the cycle — disable auto-renew well before your final committed box rather than in renewal week.
- Deleting the app or unsubscribing from emails does nothing; the auto-renew setting in Subscription Settings (or a Happy Team confirmation) is the only thing that counts.
Cancellation flows change — confirm against BarkBox's current account or help page (official help).
After you cancel: make sure it stuck
- Check Subscription Settings shows auto-renewal disabled and note the date of your final committed box.
- Keep the confirmation email or chat transcript from the Happy Team.
- Watch your statement at the start of the month after your term ends — a fresh BARK&CO (BARKBOX) charge there means a renewal went through and you should contact the Happy Team immediately.
- Generate a paper trail with the free cancellation-letter tool — useful if billing continues and you need proof.
- If it keeps charging after you cancel, follow the escalation playbook before disputing.
While you're at it — find the ones you forgot
BarkBox is rarely the only recurring charge. Upload a statement and find every subscription — trials that converted, quiet price rises, duplicates — each with its yearly cost, so you can clear them in one sitting.

BarkBox cancellation FAQs
If I cancel BarkBox mid-plan, do I still get the remaining boxes?
Yes. BARK's FAQ is explicit: cancelling means the subscription won't renew, but if you signed up for six months you still receive all six boxes. The plan simply ends at the end of the commitment instead of renewing.
Why did BarkBox charge me for a whole new 6-month term?
Multi-month BarkBox plans auto-renew for another period of the same length unless auto-renewal is disabled before the renewal deadline. If a renewal just posted, contact the Happy Team by chat or happy@barkbox.com right away — the earlier you raise it, the better your options.
How do I cancel BarkBox without calling?
Sign in, go to Subscription Settings on your account page, and disable auto-renewal — no call needed. Chat and email (happy@barkbox.com) also work if you want a written record.
Is disabling auto-renew the same as cancelling BarkBox?
Functionally yes — disabling auto-renew is how BarkBox cancellation works. The subscription closes at the end of your current paid period; nothing ends mid-term either way.
Why is BARK&CO (BARKBOX) on my bank statement?
That descriptor is BarkBox (dog subscription box). If you don't recognise it, confirm any charge with our free lookup before cancelling or disputing — descriptors often name a biller or platform rather than the service itself.
BarkBox is still charging me after I cancelled — what now?
First check you cancelled in the right place: if you subscribed through Apple, Google, Amazon or a TV provider, the service's own website can't stop that billing. If it still charges, keep your cancellation confirmation and follow our guide for a subscription that keeps charging after you cancel — and only dispute with your bank as a last resort.
