How to cancel your LA Fitness subscription

LA Fitness is operated by Fitness International, LLC, which is why charges often show as FITNESS INTL on bank statements. Cancellation is form-based: you retrieve the official cancellation form from your online account, then submit it by mail or in person — phone and email cancellations are generally not accepted. Timing matters, because a mailed form must be postmarked several business days before your next billing date to stop the next charge.

On your statement it usually appears as LA FITNESS, FITNESS INTL, LAF CLUB, ACH WITHDRAWAL L A FITNESS. Not sure the charge is really LA Fitness? Identify it first.

Get the official cancellation form online

  1. Log in at lafitness.com and open the 'My LA Fitness' page.
  2. In the 'Account Information' section, select 'Cancellation Form'.
  3. Print the pre-filled form, review your membership details, and sign and date it.
  4. If your membership is eligible for online processing, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the cancellation directly; otherwise submit the printed form by mail or in person.

Mail the completed form

  1. Mail the signed form to: LA Fitness, PO Box 54170, Irvine, CA 92619-4170.
  2. Use certified mail with return receipt so you can prove the postmark date and delivery.
  3. Make sure it is postmarked at least 5 business days before your next billing date to avoid another charge.
  4. Keep a copy of the form and the mailing receipt.

Deliver the form in person

  1. Bring the completed, signed form to your club along with photo ID.
  2. Hand it to the club's operations/manager staff — front-desk verbal requests are not a cancellation.
  3. Ask for a signed or stamped copy of the form as your receipt.

Refunds, timing and what you'll still be charged

LA Fitness does not refund the current billing cycle when you cancel — you keep access until the paid-through date and billing stops after that. The key deadline is the postmark: LA Fitness's guidance is that a mailed cancellation form postmarked at least 5 business days before your next billing date should result in no further billing; miss that window and you will likely see one more monthly charge. Annual fees that have already drafted are generally not refunded, so check when your annual fee bills before choosing your cancellation date. If you want a break rather than a permanent exit, LA Fitness offers membership freezes for a fee that varies by membership type.

Watch out for these

  • Phone and email cancellation requests are generally not accepted — only the signed form, mailed or delivered in person, reliably ends the membership.
  • The 5-business-day postmark window before your billing date is easy to miss; cancelling 'this week' can still mean one more monthly draft.
  • Charges appear under FITNESS INTL or LAF CLUB as often as LA FITNESS, so verify the descriptor before disputing a post-cancellation charge as unknown.
  • Continued billing after a written cancellation is a commonly reported problem — without your certified-mail receipt or stamped form copy, it is hard to contest.

Cancellation flows change — confirm against LA Fitness's current account or help page (official help).

After you cancel: make sure it stuck

  • Keep the certified-mail receipt or your stamped copy of the form until two billing cycles have passed cleanly.
  • Watch your statement for LA FITNESS, FITNESS INTL, or LAF CLUB charges on your usual billing date.
  • If billing continues, contact LA Fitness member services with your proof of cancellation, and dispute the charges with your bank if they are not reversed.
  • Generate a paper trail with the free cancellation-letter tool — useful if billing continues and you need proof.
  • If it keeps charging after you cancel, follow the escalation playbook before disputing.

While you're at it — find the ones you forgot

Questions

LA Fitness cancellation FAQs

Can I cancel LA Fitness over the phone or by email?

Generally no. LA Fitness requires the official cancellation form, retrieved from the My LA Fitness portal, and submitted by mail or in person. Some third-party guides list phone or email routes, but the form process is the one LA Fitness's own site directs members to, and the only one that reliably creates proof.

Where do I mail the LA Fitness cancellation form?

LA Fitness, PO Box 54170, Irvine, CA 92619-4170. Send it certified mail with return receipt, postmarked at least 5 business days before your next billing date.

What is the FITNESS INTL charge on my bank statement?

Fitness International, LLC is the company that operates LA Fitness, so membership dues and annual fees often post as FITNESS INTL, LAF CLUB, or similar instead of LA FITNESS.

Can I freeze my LA Fitness membership instead of cancelling?

Yes. LA Fitness offers membership freezes as an alternative to cancellation, with fees and durations that vary by membership type. Ask your club or check your online account for the freeze terms on your specific membership.

Why is LA FITNESS on my bank statement?

That descriptor is LA Fitness (gym & fitness). If you don't recognise it, confirm any charge with our free lookup before cancelling or disputing — descriptors often name a biller or platform rather than the service itself.

LA Fitness is still charging me after I cancelled — what now?

First check you cancelled in the right place: if you subscribed through Apple, Google, Amazon or a TV provider, the service's own website can't stop that billing. If it still charges, keep your cancellation confirmation and follow our guide for a subscription that keeps charging after you cancel — and only dispute with your bank as a last resort.
