How to cancel your Chegg subscription

Chegg Study and related subscriptions renew monthly and are cancelled from the Orders section of My Account on chegg.com. Chegg is unusual in offering a pause option — up to six months — as an alternative to cancelling, which it presents during the cancellation flow. Subscriptions started through the App Store or Google Play must be managed there instead.

On your statement it usually appears as CHEGG ORDER, CHGG ORDER, CHEGG INC, CHEGG.COM, GOOGLE *CHEGG. Not sure the charge is really Chegg? Identify it first.

Cancel on chegg.com

Sign in at chegg.com from a desktop or laptop browser.
Go to My Account, then Orders.
In the Subscriptions section, find your subscription and select Cancel subscription.
Choose a reason under 'Tell us why you're canceling' and click Continue.
Chegg will offer a pause instead; decline it if you want a full cancellation.
Confirm with the final cancellation button. You won't be charged again and keep access until the current billing period ends.

Chegg's own instructions assume a desktop browser; the mobile site can hide the Orders section.

Pause instead of cancelling

Follow the same path: My Account > Orders > Cancel subscription.
When Chegg presents the Pause option, select it.
Choose a pause duration of up to six months and click Pause subscription.
Billing stops during the pause and the subscription resumes automatically afterward — set a reminder for the resume date.

Pausing suits between-semester breaks, but auto-resume is the trap: an unmonitored pause turns back into a monthly charge.

Cancel an app-store subscription

Apple: Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Chegg > Cancel Subscription.
Google Play: profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > Chegg > Cancel.
Chegg cannot cancel or refund charges billed by Apple or Google — those stores control the billing.

Refunds, timing and what you'll still be charged

Chegg subscription charges are non-refundable under its terms: cancelling mid-cycle keeps your access until the end of the paid month but does not return that month's fee. To avoid another charge, cancel before the renewal date rather than counting on a refund afterward. Chegg support handles disputed or duplicate charges case-by-case, and app-store-billed subscriptions fall under Apple's or Google's refund policies. Textbook rentals are a separate product with their own return window and are unaffected by cancelling a study subscription.

Watch out for these

The pause option auto-resumes billing when the pause period ends — many 'surprise' CHEGG ORDER charges are paused subscriptions waking up.
Cancelling one Chegg product doesn't necessarily end others; check the Orders page for every active subscription (Chegg Study, Writing, Math, etc.).
App-store signups can't be cancelled on chegg.com at all — the Cancel option simply isn't there, and you must go through Apple or Google.
Charges land as CHEGG ORDER or CHGG ORDER, which students often fail to recognize months after exam season.

After you cancel: make sure it stuck

Confirm the Orders page in My Account shows the subscription as cancelled with an access end date, and no pause is scheduled.
Watch the next statement cycle for CHEGG ORDER / CHGG ORDER charges.
If you ever paused instead of cancelled, revisit the Orders page to make sure nothing is set to resume.
