How to cancel your Hulu subscription

Hulu is a US streaming service owned by Disney, sold on its own, with live TV, or inside Disney bundles. Statement confusion is common because a Hulu subscription can be billed by Hulu, by Disney (bundle accounts), or by Apple, Google, Amazon or even a Spotify student plan — and in the bundle case the line on your statement may say Disney rather than Hulu at all.

On your statement it usually appears as HULU, HULU LLC, HULU *HULU, DISNEY BUNDLE, DISNEYPLUS. Not sure the charge is really Hulu? Identify it first.

Cancel on the Hulu website

Sign in at hulu.com in a browser.
Click your account picture in the top right and choose Account.
Scroll to the Your Subscription section and click Cancel next to your plan.
Hulu will offer to pause your subscription instead — choose Continue to Cancel if you want to cancel.
Skip any retention offers and click Cancel Subscription at the bottom to finish.
Your Account page should now say the subscription will be cancelled, and Hulu emails a confirmation.

The Android app has a Cancel option under the Account tab; the iPhone app does not — iOS users must use a browser.

If you're billed by Disney (bundle accounts)

Some Hulu subscriptions, especially bundles with Disney+ and ESPN, are billed by Disney rather than Hulu.
Sign in at disneyplus.com, open your profile icon, then Account.
Under Subscription, select your plan and choose Cancel Subscription.
Remember bundles cancel as a whole — you cannot keep Hulu and drop the rest.

If you're billed through Apple, Google, Amazon or Spotify

Apple: Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions, select Hulu and cancel.
Google Play: Play Store profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, select Hulu and cancel.
Amazon: cancel from Amazon's Memberships and Subscriptions page (Hulu's help centre has a dedicated page for Amazon-billed accounts).
Spotify Premium Student with Hulu: the Hulu access is controlled by the Spotify plan — cancel or change it in your Spotify account.

Refunds, timing and what you'll still be charged

Hulu does not refund partial billing periods. After you cancel, you keep access to your plan until the end of the current billing cycle and are not charged again. If you would rather not lose your spot, Hulu offers a pause instead: billing and access stop for up to 12 weeks, then the subscription resumes automatically on the payment method on file — a pause is not a cancellation.

Watch out for these

The cancel flow deliberately routes you past a pause offer and retention deals — if you stop at the pause screen your billing resumes automatically within 12 weeks.
You cannot cancel from the iPhone app; the option exists on the website and in the Android app.
Bundle accounts are billed by Disney, so the cancel button lives on the Disney+ account page and your statement may show a Disney descriptor rather than Hulu.
Live TV plans are more expensive than on-demand plans, so an unexpectedly large HULU charge is often a plan change or add-on rather than fraud.

After you cancel: make sure it stuck

Confirm your Account page status changed to show the subscription will be cancelled, with an end date.
Keep the confirmation email Hulu sends.
Check the next statement for HULU, and also DISNEY BUNDLE or DISNEYPLUS lines if you ever had a bundle — a surviving Disney charge means the bundle is still active.
Generate a paper trail with the free cancellation-letter tool — useful if billing continues and you need proof.

Can I cancel Hulu on my iPhone?

Not in the app. Apple's version of the Hulu app has no cancel option unless Apple itself bills you (in which case you cancel in Settings, then Subscriptions). For Hulu-billed accounts, open hulu.com in a browser — Safari works fine — and cancel from the Account page.

How do I cancel Hulu if it's part of the Disney bundle?

Cancel from the Disney+ account page, because Disney bills bundle accounts. The whole bundle ends at the close of the billing period; you cannot drop just one service. Afterwards you can resubscribe to Hulu alone on hulu.com.

Can I pause Hulu instead of cancelling?

Yes, for up to 12 weeks. Billing stops during the pause, and Hulu automatically resumes the subscription and billing when the pause ends, so set a reminder if you might want to cancel outright.

Why is Hulu still charging me after I cancelled?

Common causes: the cancellation was completed on the wrong biller (for example on hulu.com when Apple or Amazon actually bills you), you paused instead of cancelled and the pause ended, or another account in the household bills your card. Identify the biller from the statement descriptor first, then cancel there.

Why is HULU on my bank statement?

That descriptor is Hulu (video streaming). If you don't recognise it, confirm any charge with our free lookup before cancelling or disputing — descriptors often name a biller or platform rather than the service itself.

Hulu is still charging me after I cancelled — what now?

First check you cancelled in the right place: if you subscribed through Apple, Google, Amazon or a TV provider, the service's own website can't stop that billing.
