Meal Kit Delivery

How to cancel your HelloFresh subscription

HelloFresh is a weekly meal-kit subscription that charges before each delivery, so cancelling is all about the weekly cutoff: changes and cancellations lock five days before your scheduled delivery date. Cancellation happens inside your account settings under Plan Settings, and HelloFresh treats it as deactivating your plan — your account and data remain, which makes reactivation (and accidental reactivation via promo emails) easy. Any box already inside the locked window will still be charged and delivered.

On your statement it usually appears as HELLOFRESH, HELLO FRESH, HF (prefix variants), HELLOFRESH ORDER. Not sure the charge is really HelloFresh? Identify it first.

Deactivate your plan in account settings

  1. Sign in at hellofresh.com and click your name in the upper right corner.
  2. Click 'Account Settings'.
  3. On the Plan Settings page, scroll down and click 'Manage' under the Subscription Status section.
  4. Follow the prompts — HelloFresh will offer alternatives like skipping or pausing before letting you confirm the cancellation.
  5. Save the confirmation email as your proof.

Cancel through Customer Care

  1. Email hello@hellofresh.com or use the contact options at hellofresh.com/contact-us.
  2. Include your full name and the email address registered to your account.
  3. Ask explicitly for the plan to be cancelled and request written confirmation.

Pause or skip weeks instead of cancelling

  1. In your account, open your delivery calendar and select an upcoming week.
  2. Choose 'Pause Week' (or skip) for each week you don't want.
  3. You are not charged for any week you pause before it locks — this works as an indefinite off-switch if you keep skipping.

Skipping only affects the weeks you select; the subscription itself stays active and future weeks will bill unless skipped or cancelled.

Refunds, timing and what you'll still be charged

HelloFresh charges each week's box in advance, and its terms make the subscription fee non-refundable once an order locks. The cutoff is five days before your scheduled delivery date — HelloFresh's own example: for a Tuesday delivery, you have until Thursday 11:59 PM PT the week before to cancel. Miss that window and you are charged for and receive that final box, with the cancellation taking effect the following delivery week and no prorated refund for the locked order. Issues with a specific box (missing or damaged items) are handled separately through customer care credits or refunds rather than through cancellation.

Watch out for these

  • The five-day pre-delivery cutoff means cancelling 'today' often still leaves one paid box in the pipeline — check your next delivery date before assuming you're done.
  • Deactivating stops billing but keeps your account and payment details on file, and discount emails can tempt a one-click reactivation that restarts weekly charges.
  • Skipping weeks feels like cancelling but isn't — an unskipped week will bill automatically, and HelloFresh selects meals for you if you don't choose.
  • Charges can appear under shortened or prefixed descriptors (including HF variants), so a post-cancellation charge may be a box that locked before your cutoff rather than a billing error.

Cancellation flows change — confirm against HelloFresh's current account or help page (official help).

After you cancel: make sure it stuck

  • Confirm your Plan Settings page shows the subscription as deactivated and keep the confirmation email.
  • Check whether one final box was already locked in — if so, expect that one charge and delivery, then nothing after.
  • Review your next two statements for HELLOFRESH/HF charges, and contact customer care with your confirmation if anything bills after the final locked box.
  • Generate a paper trail with the free cancellation-letter tool — useful if billing continues and you need proof.
  • If it keeps charging after you cancel, follow the escalation playbook before disputing.

While you're at it — find the ones you forgot

HelloFresh is rarely the only recurring charge. Upload a statement and find every subscription — trials that converted, quiet price rises, duplicates — each with its yearly cost, so you can clear them in one sitting.

Questions

HelloFresh cancellation FAQs

When do I need to cancel HelloFresh to avoid the next box?

Before the weekly cutoff: changes and cancellations lock five days before your scheduled delivery date. HelloFresh's example is that a Tuesday delivery must be cancelled by 11:59 PM Pacific the previous Thursday. After that, the box is charged and ships.

I cancelled but still got charged and received a box — why?

That order was already inside the locked five-day production window when you cancelled. HelloFresh charges and delivers any locked order, and the cancellation takes effect for the following delivery week. That final charge is not refundable under HelloFresh's terms.

Does cancelling HelloFresh delete my account?

No. Cancelling deactivates your meal plan and stops billing, but the account, your details, and payment method remain, which is why reactivating later takes only a few clicks. Deleting the account entirely is a separate request to HelloFresh.

Can I just skip weeks instead of cancelling?

Yes — you can pause or skip individual weeks before they lock and you won't be charged for those weeks. But the plan stays active, so any week you forget to skip will bill and ship automatically.

Why is HELLOFRESH on my bank statement?

That descriptor is HelloFresh (meal kit delivery). If you don't recognise it, confirm any charge with our free lookup before cancelling or disputing — descriptors often name a biller or platform rather than the service itself.

HelloFresh is still charging me after I cancelled — what now?

First check you cancelled in the right place: if you subscribed through Apple, Google, Amazon or a TV provider, the service's own website can't stop that billing. If it still charges, keep your cancellation confirmation and follow our guide for a subscription that keeps charging after you cancel — and only dispute with your bank as a last resort.
